Lower Sacramento Caddis Time!
There is some great fly fishing caddis action to be had on the Lower Sacramento River right now! This past Friday we got out on the river from about 1:30 to 4:00 in near 80 degree weather to witness an impressive hatch of Caddis. Best fly patterns were dark olive (almost black) caddis pupae in a #14-16. Also some smaller numbers of little BWOs and a few bigger PMD’s (#14-16). The river is still a little off color but in great shape with the fish taking advantage of active bugs. The weather has been a little mixed, but on the sunny warmer days look for good hatches of caddis with mostly BWOs on the cooler, cloudy days. Current flows are 3,770 cfs, perfect for the wade fisherman.
