The River

The Trinity River is one of the most beautiful and productive steelhead fly fishing streams in the West. Trinity River water originates high in the Trinity Alps Wilderness Area, flows into Trinity Lake and then Lewiston Lake in the small town of Lewiston CA. From Lewiston Lake on down for 110 miles to the Klamath the Trinity is a tailwater fishery, offering fantastic fishing for steelhead, salmon, and the occasional large brown trout. The Area

Recreation abounds in this area of Northern California. Within easy striking distance are innumerable trailheads to strike off into the Trinity Alps Wilderness Area, a 517,000 acre alpine wilderness great for hiking, backpacking, hunting and fishing. A place to easily get lost in nature with granite peaks and high mountain lakes with eager trout (check out our write-up on a fly fishing trip in the Trinity Alps here). Additionally, just up the road are Trinity and Lewiston Lakes, offering great options for any lake pursuit from wakeboarding to secluded dry fly fishing. Trinity county is also a renowned mountain biking destination. There’s something for everyone in this secluded portion of Northern CA!
