The Upper Sacramento River
The Upper Sacramento River is located between lake Siskiyou to the North, and Shasta Lake to the South. It’s cold, spring-fed waters provide great habitat and plentiful aquatic life for its rainbow trout population to thrive, making it one of the area’s many popular fly fishing destinations. Along the river corridor runs I-5 and with numerous exits for access. Additionally, the track of the Southern Pacific Railroad run the course of the river, providing near-unlimited access. The Area
Recreation abounds in this mountainous region of Northern California. Popular activities include kayaking; both white water on the Upper Sac and stillwater in the regions numerous lakes, hiking; the Pacific Crest Trail runs nearby and there are many other trails to nearby lakes and mountains, including the nearby Castle Crags State Park; fishing; the Upper Sac is right in the backyard but other popular destinations are the nearby McCloud, Lower Sac, Hat Creek, Fall River and countless other lakes and streams. Shasta Lake is just down the road and is popular for all manner of warm-water recreation. Climbing Mt. Shasta is popular endeavor in the summertime and in the winter folks break out the skis to hit the slopes at Mt Shasta Ski Park, which also runs a summertime mountain biking program. A couple of notable waterfalls to explore are Mossbrae Falls and Hedge Creek Falls. A variety of recreation is easily had from this centrally located property.
